From the very beginning, Ben belonged outdoors.
As a baby, he was happiest outside. He loved camping and everything that came with being in nature. If there was water, Ben was in it, swimming for hours with a natural ease that made it seem like he had always known how.
And when he wasn’t in the water, he was moving - always moving.
As Ben grew, so did his love for sport.
It didn’t matter what it was - riding his bike, running, basketball, cricket, taekwondo, or football. He was always active. He wasn’t someone who sat still for long. He valued being with the people he loved. His team mates, friends and his family - these relationships were at the heart of everything.
Ben’s energy was limitless. He wouldn't have it any other way. It was simply how his life was meant to be.
It was about connection, shared moments, and the joy of being present.
Ben packed so much into his short life. Holidays weren’t just breaks - they were spent swimming, surfing, riding the coolest mountain bike trails, enjoying the campfire, and just hanging out with friends creating lifelong memories.
In that way, Ben showed just how full and meaningful life can be when you embrace it completely.

This was a simple decision for us, as we knew Ben wanted to.
As a family we had discussed organ donation. For Ben it was an easy decision; ‘If I can’t use them, why wouldn’t I give them to someone who needed them?’ It was a nice feeling knowing we were actually honouring his decision, and not just making the decision that we knew he would have wanted had we not had that conversation.

We hope that by sharing not only Ben’s profound love of life, but also his story of donation, that others may feel inspired.
What may have felt like a small, natural choice to Ben has had an extraordinary impact. His gift has created hope where there was uncertainty, strength where there was struggle, and, for some families, more time with the people they love. In giving what he no longer needed, Ben has helped spare others the heartbreak of saying goodbye too soon.
